The NSW Smart Sensing Network has been recognised for its award winning work in a range of projects.


2024 NSW iAwards

The award was accepted on behalf of the team by UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures' Kerry Wilmot (far left) and the NSW Smart Sensing Network's Nicholas Haskins (second left).

OPENAIR (The Operational Network of Air Quality Impact Resources) received a Merit Certificate in the Sustainability & Environmental category of the NSW iAwards in Sydney in July, 2024.

The iAwards are Australia’s longest running and most prestigious tech innovation awards.


 2024 ACT iAwards

Schematic Intel was recognised in the 2024 ACT iAwards.

NSSN Industry partner Schematic Intel was recognised at the 2024 ACT iAwards for contributions to Sustainability & Environmental solutions amidst challenging flood conditions.

The NSSN partnered with Schematic Intel and the NSW State Emergency Service on the Improved operation flood intelligence for NSW project, which provided a proof of concept in using machine learning methods to provide extra flood intelligence based on a data from a range of sensors.


2024 Australian IoT Awards

OPENAIR won the IoT Award for Research.

OPENAIR (The Operational Network of Air Quality Impact Resources) received the Research Award at the IoT Awards in Sydney in June, 2024.

The IoT Awards are the awards of Australia' peak industry body for IoT, IoT Alliance Australia.

The OPENAIR project was led by the NSSN in collaboration with UTS and the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.

2024 National Banksia Sustainability Awards

OPENAIR won the Healthy Planet, Healthy People Award at the 35th National Banksia Sustainability Awards in April, 2024. The awards are the longest-running and most prestigious sustainability awards in Australia. The OPENAIR project was led by the NSSN in collaboration with UTS and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Researchers from ANU, University of Sydney, Western Sydney University and UNSW; six local councils and Transport for NSW’s Smart Places Acceleration Program were also involved in the project.
