Fiona Rankin
Fiona Rankin is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of TAFE NSW. She is an experienced and proficient digital transformation strategist and an accomplished change leader with extensive executive management experience.
Fiona is an information technology & communications (ICT) specialist who has held multiple CIO roles across the public and private sectors, as both service provider and customer. She has a comprehensive understanding of the higher education, research, and financial services sectors.
In 2019, CIO Magazine ranked Fiona in the top 50 Australian CIOs in the CIO50 Award and named Fiona as the top performing CIO within the higher education sector. In 2017, Fiona was awarded Education CIO of the Year by iTnews.
In 2024 Fiona became a member of the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney Board. She is also on the Advisory Committee for the School of Computing and Information Management (SCIT) at the University of Wollongong. From 2019 to 2022 Fiona was a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Australia’s Academic and Research Network (AARNet). Fiona was also Chair of the Australian Access Federation (AAF) from 2014 to 2022.
Fiona is a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). She holds a Master of Business & Information Technology Management degree, in addition to economics and financial management degrees. Fiona completed the Asia Link Leaders Program and Leadership 3000 (University of Michigan, U.S.A.).
