Inaugural NSSN Coordinators Group meeting
The NSSN Coordinators Group met for the first time this week at the University of Newcastle.
The group has been established to serve as a two-way conduit of information between the network and its member universities. Consisting of representatives from member university research or commercialisation offices, the group will meet quarterly to share information and opportunities and to build a stronger network.
The group is seen as a vital link in addition to the existing NSSN Members’ Committee, which is made up of Deputy Vice-Chancellors from across the network and which is responsible for providing guidance on the strategic direction of the NSSN.
NSSN Chief Operating Officer, Nick Haskins, said the formation of the Coordinators Group was an important step in the evolution of the network.
“The Coordinators Group are really our pipeline into our member universities. They are the ones who are best placed to provide us detailed and current detail on the rich and diverse research expertise across our six member universities and to help us disseminate NSSN opportunities throughout the network” he said.
The members of the NSSN Coordinators Group are:
Mark Berlage, Macquarie University
Laura Droessler-Dansie, UNSW
Paula Jones, The University of Newcastle
Stephen Lam, The University of Sydney
Sally McNeill, University of Wollongong
Arno Schaaf, UTS
The day also included a showcase of smart sensing research expertise at the University of Newcastle and a tour of their world-class labs and facilities.
The next meeting of the NSSN Coordinators Group will occur on 13 December at the University of Wollongong.
