NSW manufacturer unites with emergency ventilator team
The NSW Smart Sensing Network (NSSN) has joined the war against COVID-19 by bringing together NSW-based electrical manufacturer Circuitwise with a consortium of companies led by Grey Innovation that aim to produce 2,000 invasive ventilators in Australia.
Circuitwise Electronics Manufacturing will deliver printed circuit board assemblies to control 2000 ventilators being developed by a consortium of companies led by Melbourne-based Grey Innovation as part of the nation’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
MedTech Research Theme Leader at NSSN Jane Evans said this is an excellent example of Australian companies collaborating within a short timeframe to deliver lifesaving medical equipment for our local market and potentially increase the export of Australian made medical devices.
“NSSN was well placed to help Circuitwise access and connect with the right partners to be able to contribute to this important project, assisting in the resurgence in NSW ability to manufacture in Australia and export globally,” said Ms Evans.
Circuitwise general manager Serena Ross said she was humbled her company was chosen to deliver the critically important electronic controls in such an important project and to be part of the resurgence in Australia’s ability to manufacture advanced technologies locally.
“This pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of our supply chains and product developers are now realising that the new smart move is to manufacture their sub-assemblies in Australia, rather than Asia,” Ms Ross said.
The NSSN is committed to advancing the prosperity of NSW through creating solutions and opportunities by bringing together expertise in academia, industry and government.
Circuitwise was chosen to join the consortium as it is one of Australia’s leading ISO 13485 certified contract manufacturers of medical devices. Circuitwise is a 100% Australian-owned contract manufacturer of electronic devices, specialising in complex products such as those used in the medical and mining industries, situated in Bella Vista NSW.
