The Sensor - December 2021

Coronavirus is evolving quickly! Omicron, announced by WHO as the latest variant of concern, had reached Europe at least a week before it was detected. No matter how fast the threat grows, we know one thing for sure: throughout the six million years of human evolution, we have worked together, built tools and used our common knowledge and skills to survive.

Today, our world is ever more connected, and collaboration between different sectors is ever more necessary. The NSW Smart Sensing Network exists to bridge the gap between universities, industry and government to develop the tools and technologies we (and our planet) urgently need for survival.

The NSSN Grand Challenge Fund, closing on 21 Feb 2022, funds collaborative research projects that advance smart sensing solutions to the eight NSSN Grand Challenges: ageingbushfiresCOVID-19watermining, and smart places and buildings.
