About the opportunity
Reporting directly to the NSSN Co-Director Prof. Benjamin Eggleton, the Electronics & Development Engineer for the NSW Smart Sensing Network (NSSN) will work as part of the project supporting the development of cutting edge sensors. A key activity of the role is the ongoing development of prototypes, optimisation of electronics, data communications, interfaces and running field calibration tests. The role also involves advising the feasibility of future technologies, involving desk research, literature reviews and provision of technical advice to team projects.
Key responsibilities:
accurately develop new prototype sensors
test, validate and verify devices, including metrology and data analytics
conduct desk research and literature reviews to provide accurate technical advice
develop custom code Python, C++ or other relevant programming languages
develop communication protocols for devices including USB, 3G or other wireless communications.
About you

a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering OR another field of engineering or science with electronics proficiency or equivalent industrial experience (preferably in Electronics Engineering) and certificates
experience in the development of device prototypes, particularly PCBs
proven experience in programming, data communications and electronic engineering
demonstrated experience in experimentation, experiment design and modelling, measure and test, validation and verification
skills in CAD and 3D printing experience with design for manufacture and mechanical prototyping
demonstrated capacity in engineering management including writing project plans, keeping budgets, organising schedules and procurement.
