The Successfully Adopting Smart Sensing Technologies Breakfast Series organised by NSSN in collaboration with Investment NSW was delivered twice in June.

The first event was hosted by the University of Technology Sydney’s RAPIDO on 07 June 2022 and brought together attendees from across the University’s different faculties with industry and government representatives to discuss potential opportunities for collaborative R&D initiatives.

NSSN COO Mr Nicholas Haskins opened the event followed by an address on the role of government in supporting R&D programs by Associate Director for Clean Economy and Manufacturing at Investment NSW, Ms Natalie Heather.

Founding Director of UTS Rapido, Herve Harvard, delivered a speech on R&D collaboration and the University’s unique capabilities in advanced manufacturing, sensing, engineering and computing.

Mr Harvard’s speech was followed by two industry keynotes by Mr Tim Strube, Global Business Development at Rotacaster; and Mr Ian Byrne, Technology Consultant & Director at PEGRAS.

The second event took place at UNSW Sydney on 16 June 2022 and provided the attendees with an opportunity to explore R&D partnerships in engineering, recycling, renewable energy, and IT.

NSSN Co-Director Prof. Julien Epps welcomed the attendees and opened the event by drawing on NSSN’s capabilities in activating multidisciplinary R&D programs to translate research into impactful commercial outcomes for industry and government partners.

Associate Director for Industry Development at Investment NSW, Mr Lindsey Cohen, provided an address on various programs and opportunities NSW Government offers to boost R&D in NSW.

Mr Cohen’s speech was followed by two industry keynotes by Dr Hassan Habibi Gharakheili, CTO and Co-Founder of CyAmast; and Cibby Pulikkaseril, CTO and Co- Founder of Baraja.

Both events featured presentations by leading researchers at UTS and UNSW, showcasing the immense R&D capability that exists within their universities.

The next event in the Successfully Adopting Smart Sensing Technologies Breakfast Series will be hosted at the University of Sydney on 19 August.
