Dr Tomonori Hu

Environment & Agriculture Theme Leader

Dr Tomonori Hu is a physicist with a particular focus on optical sensing and the development of mid-infrared fiber lasers for applications in spectroscopy. His interests lie in the translation of academic technologies to industry.

After graduating with a PhD from the University of Sydney in 2015, Tom formed a start-up developing mid-infrared spectrometers.

Tom has completed accelerator programs such as INCUBATE and has a deep knowledge of the commercialisation of research. He leads an R&D group at the University of Sydney on optical sensor technologies spanning air quality, wildlife detection and defence.

Tom leads NSSN's Environment & Agriculture research theme.
