The Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) Technology Scan webcasts are designed to help you become a Utility of the Future! This webcast will focus on innovative water technologies related to leak detection.
Presenters:
Jim Fitchett, Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder at Voda and Harvard University Faculty
Tyler Mantel, CEO and Co-Founder, Watchtower Robotics
Tim Sutherns, Chair of the Board, Eramosa
Moderator:
Fidan Karimova, Water Technology Collaboration Manager, LIFT, The Water Research Foundation
The following products and systems will be featured during the presentation:
Voda
VODA.ai software, powered by daVinci, uses AI to clean data and predict risk of failure for each pipe. It finds probabilities of failure in 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10 years, plus consequence of failure (CoF). Data include material, age, length, pressure, soil type, past leaks, weather, satellite, and more. Once CoF is determined, a risk score is assigned for each pipe.
Watchtower Robotics
This patented robot combines soft robotics with in-pipe leak detection. By inserting the robot into one fire hydrant and retrieving it from another downstream, the robot creates a 3-D map of the network and locates tiny leaks within any pipe material. The system integrates with clients’ existing GIS, allowing utilities to locate leaks, save water, and prevent costly infrastructure damage.
Smart Hydrant – Eramosa
The Smart Hydrant monitors pressure, transient pressure, acoustics, and water temperature. Because the acoustics listen to the water column rather than the vibrating pipes, this technology works across materials including PVC and polyethylene. It differentiates itself from other options through several benefits, including one-hour install, no digging, no impact on operations, and dry barrel configuration.
The NSSN is proud to have facilitated the Advanced Pipe Sensing for Leaks and Break program. While Australia is a leader in the field, Leak detection is a global problem. Tune into this webcast to check out what allied technologies from around the world are doing.
