Western Sydney’s population is forecast to increase by more than a million people in 20 years. Yet with ambitious goals for sustainability and liveability, heat, in particular, remains a major challenge.

A 2021 New Scientist report found Sydney’s inland suburbs are regularly up to 10 degrees warmer than coastal areas. To achieve a cool, green and liveable Western Sydney, it will be critical to bring innovative planning ideas to bear.
