We're hiring a MedTech Theme Leader
The Opportunity
The NSW Smart Sensing Network (NSSN) has an opportunity for a MedTech Theme Leader. You will bring a broad understanding of the MedTech sector in Australia to the role with a particular focus on medical devices, chemical sensing, biomedicine, biochemistry, and associated fields. The primary focus of your role will be to foster connections between universities, government, and industry with an aim to establish collaborative projects and secure contract research.
This role reports to the NSSN Chief Operating Officer and has no direct reports.

Skills and Experience
Substantial relevant experience in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary, research organisation.
A PhD or relevant postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and/or experience.
Outstanding track record of achievement in business development in a university setting, including an excellent track record of generating revenue in a research setting.
Extensive expertise and knowledge of the Australian MedTech sector, including medical devices, chemical sensing, bio-medicine, bio-chemistry, or associated fields.
Strong initiative with superior analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyse complex environments and develop business recommendations based on strategic priorities.
Strong organisational skills with demonstrated experience in strategic and resource planning, goal setting and project management.
Substantial experience in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships throughout the innovation and technology space including universities, industry and government.
Proactive and motivated with strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
Excellent communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills with proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders across public and private sectors, including universities.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
